From June 8th to June 20th, an intern team consisting of logging science teacher Ge Xinmin and four Junior students of exploration technology and engineering (logging) went to Gubkin University of Oil and Gas in Moscow, Russia to participate in field well logging practice.

Firstly, the group visited the logging labs and the related departments in Gubkin University of Oil and Gas, and held the discussions with the teachers about the professional learning, talent development and some precautions of the logging practice. Then, they went to Zaluchye, an off-campus logging practice base that was far away from Moscow for more than 400 kilometers. In the base, they carried out training in geophysical aspects such as instrument maintenance, geophysical logging construction operations, data processing and interpretation, and gravity exploration and seismic exploration. Finally, Chinese students gave a report in English, and got highly praised by Russian teachers for their professional quality and hands-on ability.

During the internship, the Russian part gave them warmly welcome and organized many kinds of activities such field trips, cultural communications, as well as sports, to enhancing bilateral friendships. After returning to Moscow, under the arrangement of Russia, they visited the 16th International Oil and Gas Exhibition to expand the international vision of the group. Based on the logging field practice base of Gubkin University of Oil and Gas which was built in 1952 and is currently available for instrument assembly, logging, data processing, interpretation of the entire process, and room and board services and the cooperation agreement that signed by the two universities in 2016, UPC sent the overseas logging team for the first time. The project is the part of the undergraduate international exchange fund project, and Its purpose is to learn the experience from similar universities in foreign countries, and build an international talent training platform which can cultivate the international perspective of geological and geophysical workers. Currently with the support of the relevant departments, a positive exchange and interaction have been formed. (By Dr. Xinmin Ge, Department of Well Logging)
