Professor Yang Shengyu won the Hou Defeng Young Scientist Award in Mineral and Rock Geochemistry

Recently, the Chinese Society of Mineral and Rock Geochemistry announced the results of the 20th "Hou Defeng Young Scientist Award for Mineral and Rock Geochemistry". Professor Yang Shengyu from the School of Geosciences was among them. This is the first time that a teacher in our university has received this award, and Professor Yang Shengyu is the only scientist in the field of oil and gas on the list.

Yang Shengyu, professor, doctoral supervisor, national high-level talent and provincial level talent. His research is focused in oil and gas geochemistry, and has published over 10 first-authored papers in well-known journals such as Geology and GCA. He is serving as the associate editor in chief of AAPG Bulletin, Marine and Petroleum Geology, and young editorial board member of the Journal of Acta Petrolei Sinica

Hou Defeng Mineral and Rock Geochemistry Young Scientist Award is set up to commemorate the outstanding contributions of Professor Hou Defeng, an academician of the CAS Member, to the development of China's geology and geochemistry, and to encourage and commend young geoscientists who have made outstanding and creative contributions in the research of mineralogy, petrology and geochemistry. The award was established in 1986 and is selected every two years. A total of 20 young geochemical scientists have won awards in this evaluation.
