August 25th to 31st105 teachers and students from school of geosciences attended the 37th International Geological Congress and gave 39 oral speeches. Besides that, professor Cao Yingchang, Liu Keyu and Zhang Liqiang were conveners of three seminars with the title of: Fluid rock interaction under high temperature and high pressure, material circulation, and deep oil and gas in sedimentary basins, Oil Enrichment and Tethys Geodynamic System, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence in Geological Modeling.

The 37th International Geological Congress (IGC 2024) was held at BEXCO in Busan, Korea, under the theme “Great Voyagers: Sailing Toward a Unified Earth.” As the “Olympics of Geological Sciences,” IGC 2024 is a global event for geologists and Earth scientists who explore the secrets of the Earth and study planetary geology. There were 41 seminars in this conference including Sedimentary geology, Quaternary geology, Earth history and stratigraphy, structural geology, planetary science, metamorphism, volcanism, petrology, geomorphology, resource and economic geology, mineralogy, low-temperature geochemistry, paleoclimate and paleoceanography, as well as big data and artificial intelligence
