Recently, SPWLA (Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts) 66th Annual Symposium was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Bushra Mohsin, graduate from School of Geosciences won the third place in the masters category of the International Student Paper Contest. Her paper title is A new approach to fracturing prediction in tight sandstone based on clustering and deep learning methods. This is the first SPWLA- ISPC Contest winner for graduate from China University of Petroleum (East China). Bushra Mohsin came to China in 2023 from Pakistan and studied under the supervision of associate professor Tang Mingming.
The Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA) is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to the advancement of the science of petrophysics and formation evaluation through well logging and other formation evaluation techniques and to the application of these techniques to the exploration and development of the subsurface.
Founded in 1959, SPWLA provides information services to scientists in the subsurface exploration industry, serves as a voice of shared interests in our profession, plays a major role in strengthening petrophysical education, and strives to increase the awareness of the role of petrophysics in the scientific community and industry.
