Founded in 1954, School of Geosciences has a long history with its first name of Department of Petroleum Geology, as a part of Beijing Petroleum Institute. In the history, it had changed the name several times, Department of Petroleum Exploration in 1961, Department of Petroleum Resources Science in 1996, School of Earth Resources and Information in 2000, and School of Earth Science and Technology in 2011. During its 70 years of development, Teachers and students from School of Geoscience have worked hard and dedicated themselves to talent cultivation and scientific research in the field of oil and gas exploration and developm
ent. With the target of to meet the national oil and gas demand and energy strategic security, tachers and students participated in the exploration and discovery of almost all large oil and gas fields in China, supported the development of the petroleum geology disciplines in other petroleum universities, and made great contributions to the development of China's petroleum industry and higher education on petroleum exploration.
